Responsible Lending

Last updated 16 June 2026

At Flux Funding, we take responsible broking very seriously and do our best to ensure that any loan you apply for through us is one we believe you can afford. Flux Funding Limited is a credit broker, not a lender. We do not make lending decisions or lend money ourselves. Instead, we introduce and match applicants to a panel of third-party lenders, and we are paid commission by those lenders when an introduction results in a loan. The final decision to lend, and the terms of any loan, always rest with the lender.

We encourage you to apply only for borrowing that you can realistically afford to repay, and to read the terms of any credit agreement carefully before you accept it. This page explains how we approach responsible broking, what we do and do not do as part of an application, and where you can turn for help if you are worried about money.

Our role as a credit broker

Flux Funding Limited acts as an introducer between applicants and a panel of lenders. We operate a number of consumer brands, including PaydayUK, Sunny, The Money Shop and New Horizons. Whichever brand you applied through, your application is handled by Flux Funding Limited and may be presented to one or more lenders on our panel that we believe could be suitable for your circumstances.

Because we are a broker, there are important limits to our role:

Our affordability assessment

As part of matching you to a suitable lender, we carry out an affordability assessment based on the information you provide to us. This is designed to help ensure that we only introduce you to lenders offering credit that appears to be affordable and suitable for your situation.

Our affordability assessment looks at the information you give us about your circumstances, such as your income and your regular outgoings, to form a view of whether the borrowing you are seeking is likely to be affordable. If the borrowing does not appear to be affordable, or if we do not believe we can match you to a suitable lender, we may not pass your application on.

It is important to understand that our affordability assessment is not a lending decision, and it is not a credit check. Each lender we introduce you to will carry out its own assessment and may complete its own credit reference searches and other checks before deciding whether to lend. You may be matched to a lender and still be declined by that lender once it completes its own checks.

Treating customers fairly and Consumer Duty

We are committed to treating our customers fairly and to acting in line with the Financial Conduct Authority's Consumer Duty. This means we aim to deliver good outcomes for the people who use our service and to avoid causing foreseeable harm.

In practice, this means we try to:

Supporting vulnerable customers

We recognise that some of our customers may be in vulnerable circumstances, for example because of a health condition, a recent change in their circumstances, low financial resilience or a difficult life event. We aim to identify when a customer may need extra support and to respond with care and flexibility.

If you feel you may need additional support when dealing with us, please tell us. You can contact us at [email protected] and we will do our best to help, including taking your circumstances into account in how we communicate with you.

Loan terms and rates

The loans available through the lenders on our panel typically have minimum repayment periods of 3 months and maximum terms of up to 36 months. The actual rate, term and fees you are offered are set by the lender, not by Flux Funding, and will be confirmed by the lender before you enter into any agreement.

You should always check the rate, the total amount repayable and the repayment schedule in the lender's agreement before you accept a loan, and only proceed if you are confident the repayments are affordable for you.

If you have difficulty repaying

If you are having difficulty making a repayment, or you think you may struggle in future, you should contact your lender as soon as possible. Your loan agreement is with the lender, so it is the lender that can discuss your options with you, such as a revised repayment arrangement. Acting early usually gives you more options and helps you avoid additional costs.

Implications of non-payment

We always recommend repaying on time. Each lender has its own policies on fees, interest and debt collection. Non-payment can lead to additional charges, increased interest and damage to your credit record, which can make it harder and more expensive to borrow in the future. If you are worried about non-payment, contact your lender straight away.

Free and independent debt advice

If you are worried about money or struggling with repayments, free, independent and confidential debt advice is available. You do not have to pay for debt advice. The following organisations can help:

Data protection

We handle your personal information in line with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR. Flux Funding Limited is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). For full details of how we collect, use and protect your information, please read our Privacy Policy.

Complaints and the Financial Ombudsman

If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, we want to hear from you so we can put things right. You can contact us at [email protected] and we will investigate your complaint in line with our complaints procedure.

If you remain unhappy once we have responded, or if your complaint is not resolved within the relevant time limits, you may be able to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service, which provides a free, independent service for settling disputes between consumers and financial businesses. Please note that a complaint about a lender's own decision, charges or conduct should be raised with that lender, as your credit agreement is with them.
