Privacy Policy
Last updated 16 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Flux Funding Limited ("Flux Funding", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you visit our website, apply for a loan through us, or otherwise interact with our services. We are committed to protecting your privacy and to handling your personal data in an open and transparent way, in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Please read this policy carefully so that you understand your rights and how we look after your information. If you have any questions about it, you can contact us at [email protected].
Who we are
Flux Funding Limited is a credit broker, not a lender. We do not lend money ourselves. Instead, we introduce and match applicants to a panel of third-party lenders in order to help you find a suitable loan or credit product. Where an introduction results in a loan being arranged, we are paid a commission by the lender.
For the purposes of data protection law, Flux Funding Limited is the data controller in respect of the personal information you provide to us. Our details are as follows:
- Legal name: Flux Funding Limited
- Company number: 10985517, registered in England & Wales
- Registered office: Newgate House, Newgate Street, Chester, CH1 1DE
- Website: fluxfunding.co.uk
- Email: [email protected]
Flux Funding Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) under Firm Reference Number (FRN) 806333. We are also registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller.
Flux Funding operates a number of consumer-facing brands, including PaydayUK, Sunny, The Money Shop and New Horizons. Where you have applied through one of these brands, this policy describes how Flux Funding processes your personal data as the data controller.
The personal information we collect
When you apply for a loan or use our services, we collect personal information that allows us to identify you, assess your application and introduce you to suitable lenders. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:
- Your full name, date of birth and contact details (including your home address, email address and telephone number)
- Financial information such as your income, employment status, monthly outgoings, existing credit commitments and bank account details
- Details of the loan you are looking for, including the amount and the term
- Information about your residential status and household
- Technical information, including your IP address, device information, browser type and the pages you visit on our website
- Records of your communications with us, including emails, calls and messages
We collect most of this information directly from you when you complete an application or contact us. Some technical information is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you use our website (see the Cookies section below).
Our lawful bases for processing
Under data protection law, we must have a valid lawful basis for processing your personal information. We rely on the following bases, depending on the activity:
- Performance of a contract – to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and to provide our broking service of matching you to a suitable lender.
- Legitimate interests – where the processing is necessary for our legitimate interests or the legitimate interests of a third party, such as a lender, provided those interests are not overridden by your data protection rights. This includes assessing affordability, preventing fraud and improving our services.
- Legal obligation – to comply with our regulatory and legal duties, including those imposed by the Financial Conduct Authority.
- Consent – where we rely on your consent, for example for certain marketing communications. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
How we use your information
We use the personal information we collect to:
- Process your loan application and introduce you to lenders on our panel who may be able to offer you a suitable product
- Carry out an affordability assessment to help determine whether a loan is likely to be suitable and affordable for you
- Communicate with you about your application and respond to your enquiries
- Operate, maintain and improve our website and services
- Detect, prevent and investigate fraud, and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations
- Where you have agreed, or where we are otherwise permitted to do so, contact you about your loan search and similar products and services that may be of interest to you
Where we send you marketing on the basis of a "soft opt-in" (because you have previously enquired about a similar service), you can ask us to stop at any time by contacting us using the details in this policy or by following the unsubscribe instructions in our messages.
Who we share your information with
As a credit broker, the main reason we collect your information is to introduce you to lenders. We share the personal information from your application with our panel of third-party lenders so that they can decide whether to offer you a loan, and on what terms.
Once your information is shared with a lender, that lender becomes responsible for the personal data it holds and processes it in accordance with its own privacy policy. Lenders and other third parties may carry out their own checks when they receive your application, which can include credit reference and affordability searches, and identity and fraud checks. These checks are carried out by the lender or third party, not by Flux Funding.
We may also share your information with:
- Other authorised credit brokers, where doing so helps us find you a suitable product
- Service providers who support our business, such as IT, hosting, communications and analytics providers, who act on our instructions
- Advertising and technology networks (such as Google and Meta/Facebook) where relevant, for example to measure and improve our marketing
- Regulators, law enforcement agencies, fraud prevention agencies and other authorities where we are required or permitted to do so by law
- Professional advisers and, in the event of a sale or reorganisation of our business, prospective purchasers and their advisers
The lenders and brokers we work with are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
International transfers
We aim to keep your personal information within the UK and the European Economic Area (EEA) wherever possible. If any of our lenders, brokers or service providers operates outside the UK or EEA, we will take steps to ensure that your information continues to receive an equivalent level of protection, for example by relying on an adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep your information
We will keep your personal information for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. In general, we will retain your personal details for no longer than 12 months from the date you last used our service, unless you ask us to delete it sooner or we are required to keep it for longer to meet a legal, regulatory or accounting obligation, or to resolve a dispute.
Keeping your information secure
We take the security of your personal information seriously and use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it, including high levels of encryption and secure infrastructure. While no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, we work to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal information. These include the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances
- Restrict our processing of your information in certain circumstances
- Object to our processing where we rely on legitimate interests, and to object to direct marketing at any time
- Request the transfer of your information to you or another organisation (data portability)
- Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent
- Not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing where it produces legal or similarly significant effects
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected]. We will respond to your request within the time limits set by law. There is usually no charge for exercising your rights.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to help it work properly, to remember your preferences, to understand how the site is used and to deliver relevant advertising. For full details of the cookies we use and how you can manage them, please see our Cookie Policy.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first at [email protected] so that we can try to resolve it.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection matters, at ico.org.uk. We would, however, appreciate the chance to deal with your concerns before you approach the ICO.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, regulatory or operational reasons. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
